Cranberry Harvest 2021 - Family Farming

Cranberry Harvest 2021 - Family Farming In today’s video, I am in Ontario, Canada touring a wonderful family cranberry farm. We love to eat cranberries with Christmas dinner and I wanted to find out where they come from and how they get to my table. The Johnston family has been farming cranberries since the 1950s and they have an amazing family operation. I learned that first, they dry harvest cranberries and then they flood the fields to float the cranberries to the surface and they harvest them. The whole cranberry operation is really fascinating. It is interesting that they also make wines and jellies too to diversify their operation if they are affected by low harvest or prices. I really enjoyed being in the cranberry fields because they are so different from how we farm in Montana! The biggest difference is how much water they have compared to our Montana farm. There is water everywhere!!! I hope you like my video and thank you for watching!!! Merry Christ
