Bastianini fights Cancer and Corelli (1965, BEST SOUND)

Ettore Bastianini and Franco Corelli sing the three glorious duets from Verdi’s La forza del destino. Bastianini as Don Carlo saying goodye to dying Don Alvaro is especially moving and tragically ironic since Bastianini himself would pass away of cancer some two years after this performance. This may be Bastianini’s final performance in the role of Don Carlo. His final operatic performance would come merely 10 months later. Here, he is joined by one of the greatest tenors in operatic history, Franco Corelli. Live February 1965. My personal re-equalization and stereoization from the Myto release.
