Nokia 8850/8890 (1999) | Vintage Tech Showcase | Retro Review

This is my vintage tech showcase video of the Nokia 8850, also known as the Nokia 8890 in the US. This unit is indeed the 8890 but the differences are just the gsm bands and that’s all. The Nokia 8850 was released in 1999 as a premium business phone. It was basically the highly successful Nokia 8210 or Nokia 8290 but with a few more features, a aluminum alloy body, a slider mechanism and a much higher price tag. Its main selling point was its extremely high quality build, featuring a very solid slider mechanism which can be used to lock the phone and buttons that feel extremely premium as well as other premium Nokia features that 1999 had to offer. It was easily the best build phone in the world in 1999 and its price tag reflected that. The Nokia 8850 is a rare collectors item that usually sells for about $100-$500 on eBay.
