At the 2023 WTT Youth Contender Platja d’Aro (ESP), Matej Haspel met rising Italian star Danilo Faso in Round of 16 (R16) of the Under 15 Boys’ singles event. Previously, Matej had been unbeaten in the event. One round earlier, Matej had also beaten fellow German national team member Lukas Wang. Still, in the Under 17 event, Matej had lost against Danilo Faso in the group stage.
