Pt 3 Avril Lavigne Born To Be 2011

Aired Nov. 11, 2011 -- Avril Lavigne is showcased on MuchMusic’s revived documentary series Born To Be. Why does the fansite suck, you ask? Two years ago I was a member, and I would still be today if they’d dealt with me honestly and fairly. Since then, I’ve learned I’m not the only one to be used and exploited. There’s a long list of unscrupulous practices by the site’s owner Sharifa Mohamed. These include: -Phony contests with non-existent prizes. -Phony links to phishing sites offering non-existent Avril merchandise if you fill out a form with personal information. -Entering Bandaids in a contest, attempting to win money intended for charities. -Trojan horses embedded in the site. -Using her status in the fan community to queue-jump ahead of fans who got in line early. -Impersonating Avril Lavigne, and posting phony messages in the forums under her name to drum up traffic. -Banning any member who questions these practices.
