Hallucigenia sparsa. Creature of the Cambrian Explosion

Hallucigenia sparsa - creature of the Cambrian Explosion. An extinct organism from the Middle Cambrian period and it has become one of the most scrutinized and perplexing creatures to be discovered within the famous Burgess Shale of British Colombia. Long thought to have no living descendants, Hallucigenia is now considered part of the lobopodian worm group - indirectly related to modern velvet worms - though its exact phylogeny is still unknown. This quality model (140 mm long, 120 mm high - scale 5:1) is a gypsum plastic composite and has been created by paleoartist Bruce Currie. Paleozoo Evolutionary Models are detailed portraits of some of the earliest complex lifeforms to evolve on Earth.
