A Long March-4C launch vehicle launched the Gaofen-5 satellite from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in Shanxi Province, north China, on 8 May 2018, at 18:28 UTC (9 May, 02:28 local time). Gaofen-5 is a hyperspectral imaging satellite, the first China-made satellite capable of monitoring air pollution. Gaofen-6 will be launched later this year to form a constellation with other Gaofen satellites in orbit.
