Visualization is a relaxation technique that employs the approach of producing visual mental pictures that are consciously generated in order to elicit a good emotional reaction, resulting in mind and body relaxation. It necessitates a degree of attentiveness akin to that of dreaming; yet, it differs from sleeping or dreaming. The prior, inadequately successful method of thinking and behaving to various stressful situations can be reprogrammed into a new, much more successful one using this technique. That is why, in stressful situations, one learns to think in terms of “stay and play“ rather than “fight or flight.“ As a result, imagery can be therapeutic. Thoughts are steered via many imagined settings as well as diverse scenarios during visualization.
