Compulsory College - why are we forcing kids down the same path?
The school to higher education pipeline is a forceful one, but not everybody wants to go into university/college/tertiary education, and not every job requires it, yet the pressure remains the same. It’s seen as the “only“ path according to pretty much everybody though, oh, and don’t study something useless and fulfilling, you gotta study something which will land you in a good job - despite the fact that the job market hasn’t kept up with inflation, it’s still a must. There’s such inherent classism that’s present in this idea, if you don’t go to uni - you’re worthless, and we’re projecting that onto our kids even. Let’s chat!
