The Japanese group of atomic bomb survivors, Nihon Hidankyo, has been awarded the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize for their tireless efforts in eliminating nuclear weapons. Known as “hibakusha,“ they survived the horrors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and their witness testimony has shaped global dialogue against nuclear arms. Nobel Committee Chair Joergen Watne Frydnes acknowledged their role in establishing the “nuclear taboo“ – now under threat in today’s world.
Their message: Nuclear weapons must never be used again.
Congratulations on this monumental achievement! 🕊️
