RoboCop Longplay (Arcade) [4K]

Developed and published by Data East in 1988 One of the greatest 80s action movies of all time, RoboCop is an absolute classic. It received numerous video game adaptations, many developed by Ocean Software, who had acquired the license to do so. When it came to the coin-op, Data East had to secure a license from the British software developer, which is why Ocean is credited during the game’s attract mode. The arcade game is a fairly by-the-numbers side-scrolling shoot ’em up, but the best thing about this, for me at least, is the main Robo character sprite. The artists managed to convey a huge amount of detail in such a small sprite, creating an extremely convincing pixel-art replica of RoboCop. In fact, it was so good I used to think it must have been digitised! Despite having longplayed the game several years ago, I thought it was time to do a new version with a higher upscale (4K). #robocop #dataeast #retrogaming
