Stacy’s Dad (Fountains Of Wayne Parody) 【covered by Anna】

Hello everyone! This week I sang Stacy’s Mom/Dad by Fountains Of Wayne! If you frequent my livestreams, I’m sure you are no stranger to this song. I’ve been meaning to record it for months now so it’s nice to finally have it off the backburner. If you have no idea what this is, don’t sweat it! A lil’ jazz cover never hurt anyone. I really, really, really love the Postmodern Jukebox cover of Stacy’s Mom but I’ve always been so intrigued by the concept of Stacy’s Dad, and seeing as there weren’t many covers, I knew it was my job to continue the lineage that is Stacy’s Dad. My friends and I piled into a call a little over a year ago to write these lyrics. We wanted to make sure these lyrics weren’t creepy or gross (because that’s just yucky and does not spark joy) so I’d like to imagine that this is from the perspective of Stacy’s best friend who she’s known since elementary school and now they’re both 23. They’re hanging out at Stacy’s place (maybe drinkin’ a bit) and Stacy’s best friend opens up and starts to gush about how she had a HUGE crush on Stacy’s dad while growing up. It’s meant to be very innocent and cute without any of the weird undertones. Cool? Cool. UPDATE: It’s been brought to my attention that one line of the lyrics my friends and I came up with is super similar to another parody of Stacy’s Dad by Uncle Izzy!
