This week’s session features music by Australian surf-rock trio, Skegss. Skegss performed two songs, “Under the Thunder“ and “Bush TV,“ off their new album, Rehearsal, accompanied by art created by Jack Irvine.
Skegss, originally from Byron Bay, New South Wales, is currently made up of Ben Reed (lead vocals/lead guitar), Jonny Lani (drums), and Toby Cregan (bass guitar). The band formed in 2014 When Lani and Reed reconnected and decided to play small gigs and create their version of So-Cal surf rock.
In 2014, their breakout single, “.,“ gained the attention of Australian Alternative radio station Triple J. With new found traction, Skegss released two ; 50 Push Ups For a Dollar followed up by Everyone Is Good At Something, and the band toured across Australia.
Skegss’s latest album, Rehearsal, dropped on March 26, 2021, earning the band its first ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) number one album. A massive accomplishment in an
