Armand Richelieu potrayed by Peter Capaldi certainly deserves the highest praise. The thin line between being a patriot and a “villain“ is shown very clearly - Cardinal Richelieu is not a moral and honest man, but he is certainly not a villain - he’s a great politician and a patriot of his country above all else. And what Dumas really lacks in his representation of his character - Richelieu actually is quite selfless in what he does. And he made an enormous impact on French and Europian history. I think Peter potrayed this layered character very well - and as a big fan of Richelieu I’m grateful for that. Was made back in May 2014.
