Automated palletising of whisky barrels using industrial robots

As demand for Scotch Whisky grows, handling and palletising casks of whisky at Chivas Brothers is being automated. Using a KUKA industrial robot and bespoke end-of-arm tooling from SCM Handling, Chivas Brothers is able to attend end-of-line palletising tasks safely and efficiently where manual systems cannot be used. As a result, the Keith operation is able to fill and handle more casks, reducing manual handling and working at height activities by 50%, positively impacting increases in upward supply chains. In partnership with SCM Handling, Chivas Brothers are looking to further adopt Industry 4.0 principles, revolutionising a traditional industry with immense heritage.
