Ukrainian diaspora head in Poland calls Volhyn monument ‘Polish stupidity’

A monument commemorating the victims of the Volhyn Massacre, where tens of thousands of Poles were killed by Ukrainian troops allied with Nazi Germany during WWII, has been unveiled in Poland. The move was immediately condemned by the President of the Ukrainian diaspora in Poland, who called the monument an ’example of Polish stupidity.’ Former Polish judge Tomasz Schmidt comments on the significance of the monument, noting that Polish officials were initially reluctant to commemorate the massacre.
