IKEA Gown: Finishing a 1780’s Italian Gown

Hello I’m Sophie. Welcome to the beginning of my sewing journey, come along with me through all the mistakes and seam ripping! And hopefully feel some solidarity that there are others bumbling their way through this hobby. Follow me on Instagram to see what I’m currently working on- This video is the final part in making a 1780’s Italian gown with the American Duchess Guide to 18th Century Dressmaking. Many in the costuming communities have made their own “IKEA Gowns” because it is a great cheap way to get fabric in an 18th century appropriate pattern (Just search #IKEAGown on Instagram for inspiration). In this video I will be attaching the skirt to the bodice and finishing the whole outfit. *Disclaimer* I am very much an amateur seamstress and make many mistakes. Video Clip about thimbles is from Abby Cox’s video on using metal thimbles. I love her videos and she inspires me to be a better hand sewist. - 1:30 Making the Skirt 6:27 Sle
