Amira Hass on Israel/Palestine: One Country with Two Peoples
Learn more at:
Award-winning & controversial Haaretz reporter Amira Hass came to Duke University to speak to a class of undergrads who were studying the complex history between Israel & Palestine as peace continues to be an elusive possibility for the region. In this brief, candid interview, Hass shares how the Zionist Movement was first a reaction to the Holocaust and the lingering European anti-semitism that followed WW2. She maintains, however, that highlighting this, “...is not in order to exonerate Israel,“ as she denotes the similarities between the Jewish colonial project and that of Western Europe in previous centuries. Both have done tremendous harm as Palestinians have suffered like atrocities as the indigenous people of the Americas when robbed of their homeland.
