David Baron - The Han

#piano #pianomusic #solopiano Listen on Amazon, Apple, Deezer, Pandora, Spotify Download from Bandcamp The Han comes from the Korean concept of the beauty of sorrow. It is considered a modern form of sadness that is connected to post colonial troubles: specifically the separation of families when Korea split. Jinhi, my Korean born wife, and I often talk about the concept of the Han as it relates to modern life. We all have the blues/the Han sometimes, particularly in this Covid era. My piano composition is based on waltz form. It aims to capture the duality of sadness/hope. Looking over the mountains hoping that things will get better for everyone. Here’s to 2021... Recorded in the music room at Sun Mountain on a rebuilt 1984 Steinway B. The room has 16 foot ceilings and a gorgeous view of the Ashokan Reservoir. The ambience is magical - and I hope that some of that made it to the recording
