SS Valencia: The Ghost Ship that Haunts the Graveyard of the Pacific

The Graveyard of the Pacific has claimed thousands of lives over the years. In 1906, the SS Valencia, sailing with the Pacific Coast Steamship Company, ran aground off the coast of Vancouver Island. She couldn’t have found a worse area to wreck. The violent waves and rocky cliffs that line the coastline made it nearly impossible for her passengers and crew to make it to the shore only a few meters away. The failed attempts to rescue those who clung to the wreck for 40 hours still haunt the area to this day. Instagram: Sources: Michael C.
