Why You’re Always Distracted

Why are we constantly surrounded by distractions 24/7? What are we going to do when this white noise, this artificial matrix does not work anymore? We are very detached from our emotions. When was the last time the average person stopped trying to be distracted by a Netflix show, the phone, something on the news, or from aimlessly chatting with someone else? We live in a culture that has become afraid of silence. We need a constant white noise around us to distract us. Most people now have a TV in their living room constantly projecting sounds and images, to constantly occupy their senses with some audiovisual experience and to be continuously distracted. The “living room” has become the “watching room.” Our modern society is, on one hand, very advanced from a spiritual perspective, as many of us are very close to feeling an intolerable emptiness.
