Toby Jugs (1957)

Larkfield, Kent. C/U shot of the two toby jugs. Hands move them to show a little bald man with funny glasses cleaning toby jugs. Several tables around him are covered in toby jugs. He cleans one of the jugs with a soft cloth after he spits on it. Voiceover claims that ’these jugs are too valuable to drink from, they are part of one of the biggest private collections of toby jugs in the country’. Man’s name is George Henderson and he is the pub owner. Mr Henderson leaves the jug on the table and takes a pen to write something in the book in front of him. C/U shot of Mr Henderson’s face as he writes - glasses are really special. C/U shot of Mr Henderson’s hands as he cleans one of the jugs. He, again, uses his saliva to clean the jug. Voiceover reveals that the jug he just cleaned is worth £200 (1950’s pounds!) C/U shot of the toby jug. There is a face, very similar to Churchill’s on the lid. M/S of some of the jugs.
