WKF Rules Kumite Women in Karate - Shotokan vs Shito Ryu in Winnipeg Canada 2012

Recorded by Jill of MyShotokan & Charleswood Karate This is kumite footage from the adult women’s black belt category of the Karate Manitoba Open Provincial Tournament from 2012, a martial arts competition held in Winnipeg Manitoba in June 2012. Using the World Karate Federation (WKF) rules, these kumite matches run stop-time, 2 or 3 minutes total, and to encourage competitors to use a variety of techniques in their strategies, points are awarded according to target and type of technique used, and an 8-point system is used in place of the 1/2 point, full point “win“ system used in the JKA ruleset. Thank you to Karate Manitoba for hosting this tournament Thank you to Charleswood Karate and Bushido-Kai Canada for the excellent competitors in this video
