I had seen the beautiful Jammu and Kashmir from movies but it is only when I am taking the beauty of the region in with my own eyes that I realise how stunningly beautiful and unique it is. And the Kashmiri people are so welcoming and generous! They welcome us with open hearts, and once you start staying in the houseboats, you are no longer their guest, you are their family member. To make my birthday even more special the owner of the Love Nest houseboat has gifted us a boat ride in one of the magnificently constructed shikaras. We just set back, relaxed and watched the wild life and the most incredible sunset imaginable while the kind and smiley young Kashmiri man took us on a ride around delightful and mesmerising Nigeen lakes with backdrop of the Himalayan range.
