Leo’s Glossy Portrait How Damien Hirst’s Painting of DiCaprio Raised Over £1m for Charity

A colourful portrait of Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio painted by renowned British artist Damien Hirst has fetched more than £1m at a charity auction in Cannes. The painting, made of household gloss on canvas, was signed by both Hirst and DiCaprio before being sold at the amfAR gala on Thursday (25 May) to raise money for AIDS research. The portrait was commissioned by a private collector who later donated it back to amfAR, giving another chance for someone to own a unique piece of art featuring the Titanic actor. The final bid was $ , according to media reports. DiCaprio attended the glamorous event with his mother, Irmelin Indenbirken, who filmed the bidding war with her phone. The actor, who is currently in Cannes with Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, took the back entrance into the party, skipping the red carpet.
