Vivo Sonhando - Bossa Nova Guitar Lesson #26: Second Basic Rhythmic Phrase Syncopated and Reversed

This lesson is based on the guitar accompaniment played by João Gilberto on album Getz/Gilberto. The lesson shows the usage of second basic bossa nova rhythmic phrase with syncopated last beat of the second measure. It can also be played in reverse in which case the last beat of the first measure is syncopated. Few things to note about guitar accompaniment: 1. In this rhythmic phrase the chords are played together with the bass on main beats 1, 2 and 3, while on the 4th beat the chord is not played. 2. The last 16th note in the 2nd measure (or in the 1st measure in reversed variation) is played as a ghost note, but only if the following rhythmic pattern is pattern ’1’ (two 8th notes). 2. This lesson makes album Getz/Gilberto complete in Bossa Nova Guitar video lessons, you may now find all songs from that album in our lessons. Enjoy playing Vivo Sonhando!
