#bengalclassicalmusicfestival Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri is an Indian tabla player, and is considered to be one of the all time greats. He took lessons in the tabla from his guru Pt Santosh Krishna Biswas, an eminent exponent of the Lucknow gharana. His spontaneous expression, ingenuity and in-depth knowledge has helped form a distinctive personal style of playing the tabla. Pt Chaudhuri’s clarity and elegance, both as an accompanist and as a soloist, has brought him much renown the world over. His excursions beyond the realm of classical music resulted in exciting recordings with Stevie Wonder, L. Shankar, Mark O’Connor, John Handy, Larry Coryell, John Santos, the reputed Persian musicians Alizade and KayhanKalhor, the African drum master Malenga, and the renowned guitarists Vlatko Stefanovski and Miroslav Tadic, among others.
