LIBERIA: Robertsport to Monrovia. Petrol shortage and a broken clutch! // EPS 12
New challenges in a new country: On our ride from Robertsport to Monrovia, Liberia surprised us with a fuel shortage, a broken clutch cable and a market, that blocked our way.
A small country on the west coast of africa, with long shores of golden beaches, where dusty, red roads accompany you through lush green banana plantations to some of the highest mountains of West Africa: Liberia is still one of these rare places: a mostly unknown travel destination that is not featured on a lot of bucketlists due to it’s turbulent past. But it should be.
First stop in Liberia: the coastal town Robertsport and it’s golden beaches. We watched the fishermen at work, stayed at Nana beach and learned more about Robertspot past before leaving for the capital Monrovia. But we didn’t get far due to a broken clutch cable and the challenge to organzie petrol due to a fuel shortage and no petrol station carrying any fuel anymore.
