Eisa is dancing festival in Okinawa islands that is held in the Bon festival period in Japan.
Bon is anually celebrated in all though Japan but Eisa is only held in Okinawa (Ryukyu) area.
It is believed that our ancestor returns to the world in a few days of Bon festival period.
Bon is a Bhuddist celemony ’Urabon-e’ and the word is said to be come from a sanscrit word ’ullambana’.
But recently there is another theory that ’Urabon’ come from the Iranian word ’urvan’ that means ’soul’.
Shinjuku Eisa is a new festival that was started in 2002 in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Some groups from Okinawa and Kanto area (includng Tokyo).
