Russian balloonist beats world record for circumnavigation

A 65-year-old Russian adventurer has broken the world record for the fastest round-the-world flight in a hot air balloon. Fedor Konyukhov completed his non-stop journey in just 11 days, after arriving at his starting point in Northam in Western Australia earlier on Saturday. Konyukhov’s accomplishment smashed the 14-year-old record set by American adventurer Steve Fossett. He was the only other person to circumnavigate the world in a hot air balloon in 13 days and a half.
