The story of Buddha Dariya Ludhiana is more than hundreds of years old. It flows parallel to the bank of Satluj Dariya from Ludhiana. Lodhi Khan Fort is situated at the bank of Satluj Buddha Dariya. Once upon a time, not more than fifty years ago, the water of the Buddha dariya was neat and clean. The people that time used to take bath in this dariya. Hindu used to do all holy rituals or festivals on the bank of Buddha Dariya. In the old city there were two Ghat on the bank of Buddha Dariya Shiv Ghat near GauShala & Jiwa Ram Ghat presently Ved Bharti Ashram. In 1980 when Ludhiana started to develop, there was sewage in the street & all roads but the outlet of the sewage flowed maximum in the Buddha dariya. All the water has become polluted. The 14 miles long Dariya flows from the center of Ludhian. A number of colonies & Mohalla are on both sides of its bank. Millions of rupees has been spent by Canal Department & Nagar Nigam Ludhiana to clean & green Buddha Dariya but all in vain
