Jean-Denis Michat (18:00, Wednesday 11 July, Buchanan Theatre) Jean-Denis Michat -- Alto Saxophone A versatile musician, Jean-Denis Michat graduated from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris where he took specialized classes in Saxophone, Composition, Analysis, Music History and New Technologies. At the age of 24, he was appointed Saxophone Professor at the Conservatoire National de Région de Lyon and promoted one year later to Assistant Professor at the . Students now come from Asia, the USA and every country in Europe to attend his “third cycle class“ at the Lyon Conservatory. As a concert performer, he is recognised for the quality of his work on the transcriptions of classical works, as well with piano and with orchestra. His compositions are played by the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, Orchestre National de la Musique de l’Air, ensemble Itinéraire, Calliope choir and others.
