Panic, Terror, and Near Drowning: The Forced Swim Test

The forced swim test is a widely used behavioral experiment on animals that involves placing mice, rats, or other small animals in inescapable cylinders filled with water. The traumatised animals will first try to escape by climbing up the sides or diving in search of an exit. They paddle furiously, desperately trying to keep their heads above water. Please take action to ask Victoria University of Wellington to stop conducting this cruel and worthless test.
