The opening segment takes a look at the opening of the Danville, Illinois foundry (:32). This foundry which employed nearly 3,000 workers in the early 1950’s creating military truck axles in WWII would later close in the 1990’s. The foundry itself (:42) precludes images of the 500 employees on the floor working on castings (:57). Charles E. Wilson; the President of GM celebrates with employees (1:05) as the plant was successful in pumping out tons of heavy castings daily (1:05). Mr. James H. Smith of the Saginaw Metal Casting Operations; an automobile foundry plant in Saginaw, Michigan appears at (1:24). The conveyor system follows which was used to lighten employee workload (1:33). Moisture content is tested on iron samples (1:47). An atmosphere test is conducted (2:02). The Danville Country Club appears (2:25) as a dinner is held on opening day (2:40). Mr. Wilson and Mr. Smith discuss the plant’s future (3:03). Former Governor of Illinois; Dwight H. Green takes to the podium (3:08) to celebrate the foundry’s success. The next segment looks at a new sort of prescription (4:00) as Dr. Harold B Johnson of Buffalo, NY (3:43) introduces the idea of watch General Motors 16mm films in the waiting room of the doctors office. A GM car promo film is loaded into the projector for anxious waiting patients (4:31). Results proved the television kept patients calmer as they waited (5:08). At the St. Paul Buick factory (6:06), employees joined GM in the post war development period. Elites of the St. Paul Buick stand before the camera (6:40). Members were a part of the United City Council, United Civic Council from St. Paul’s business and community life (6:52). Four service aisles are provided within the factory (7:06). Mechanics provide general repair on the floor (7:36). The parts department follows (7:42). In Tallapoosa, Georgia (8:14). The Tallapoosa Chevrolet dealer stands outside his dealership (8:30). This town in particular experienced a war slum until the dealer set to work. Women work on camouflage nets (8:45) under contracts gained while working for the army.
