Mrs Savage’s Whim

This lovely 3/2 hornpipe can be traced back to 1710 when it appeared in Playford’s Dancing Master, an important source for dance tunes and figures of the C17th and C18th. I couldn’t resist trying to give it my take on a baroque arrangement. The bass, tenor and treble recorders were made by Yorkshire maker the late Albert Lockwood and the descant is a 1947 Dolmetsch.
