His grandfather Ustad Akram Ali was an enlisted violinist of the All India Radio, Guwahati Station. In 1979, Md. Moniruzzaman joined Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and continues to be an enlisted artist of Bangladesh Radio and Television, and a lifetime member of Dhaka Orchestra.
