Yelena Bekman-Shcherbina playing Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto no. 1, op. 25, with the All-Union Radio SO under Sergei Gorchakov, recorded before 1951. This is ripped from a LP. Bekman-Shcherbina’s list of teachers is amazing -- she studied with Nikolai Zverev, Pavel Pabst and Vasily Safonov, and learned to play Scriabin’s pieces from the composer himself. For her graduation from the Moscow Conservatory she played all of Bach’s 48 Preludes and Fugues as well as Schumann’s Symphonic Etudes and other works. Sh
