Schlumpf Unicycles: Flansberrium G24 & G29 - Overview & Issues

In this video I cover the hardware used to build up my two unicycles with the new inboard disc Schlumpf hubs in a Flansberrium G24 and Flansberrium G29 🤩♥️⚙️ I also cover off of the issues that are still pending resolution and the problems or areas of slight concern I’ve encountered in getting them set up. TL;DR - They work 🤩🎉… but we do have some puzzlements over how the hub has been made in terms of measurements and placement of flanges / clearance spacing for the rotor to caliper. I’m remaining positive - as it is all part of the experience to get this magical beasts up and running. Enjoy - and any questions fire them my way or join the forum ⚙️ Key Links: 1. The BIG link - to the unicyclist forum where we’ve been discussing how to build our wheels up and highlighting issues as they came up. The link starts when the first queries starts around fitting cranks and then moves into the rotor alignment issue: 2. How to deal with the countersinking - “Hub Spoke Hole Bevelling: - really helpful page that covers how best to spoke this kind of hub. 3. Why have I purchased TWO Schlumpfs?!? - covering off my reasons for this “excessive” obsession: UPDATE: Core discovery of “toutestbon” on the forum is shown here: - it appears that the hub diagram for the 100mm hubs for [E] is shown as 57, but measures in real like as 61. So this is where the 4mm issue has come from. Flanges are wider apart and this means clearance / space for rotor to flange is 13mm not the listed 17mm [D] The Builds: Flansberrium G24 Frame: Flansberrium 24” Aluminium - with custom “1:1” (L) and “1:1.5” (R) machine engravings in fork legs Hub: Schlumpf 2022 Disc M1240 36h 100mm (Fixed Drive) Rim: Kris Holm Freeride 47mm (oval cutouts) - Blue Strip Spokes: Sapim CX Rays (Sliver) Nipples: Sapim Alu (Blue) Brake: Hope Tech3 E4 (Blue) Brake Mount: Hope Silver F Rotor: 180 Tyre: Maxxis High Roller 24x2.7” Inner Tube: Standard 24x2.7 Valve Cap: Oil-slick Hexagonal Saddle: Mad4One HandleSaddle - Medium (Blue/Dark Blue) Seatpost: Mad4One 27.4 (Black) Clamp: Mad4One 3-Bolt (Blue) Pedals: One-Up Aluminium Flat Pedals (Oil-slick) Flansberrium G29 Frame: Flansberrium 29” Aluminium - with custom “1:1” (L) and “1:1.5” (R) machine engravings in fork legs Hub: Schlumpf 2022 Disc M1299 36h 100mm (Fixed Drive) Rim: LightBicycle AM935 Carbon Fibre Rim (Gold Accents) Spokes: Sapim CX Rays (Sliver) Nipples: Sapim Double-Square (Gold) Brake: Hope Tech3 E4 (Silver) Brake Mount: Hope Silver B Rotor: 203 Tyre: Maxxis Recon 29x2.8” Inner Tube: Tubeless - Sealant: Valve: Reserve Fillmore (Tubeless) Saddle: Mad4One HandleSaddle - Medium (Black) Seatpost: Mad4One 27.4 (Gold) Clamp: Mad4One 3-Bolt (Gold) Pedals: Hope F20 Pedals (Gold) —— ⚙️💡⚙️💡⚙️💡⚙️ 00:00 - Intro 00:35 - Flansberrium G24 - Build Overview 03:33 - Issue Intro 04:00 - Issue 1: Frame Clearance 04:25 - Issue 2: Spoking the Wheel - Countersinking 08:31 - Issue 3: Rotor Alignment / Caliper Spoke Clearance 14:40 - Issue 4: Cranks Spacers? 16:09 - Issue 4.5: Axle Bolts Torque - Rounding Warning 19:20 - Flansberrium G29 - Build Overview 22:10- Closing Comments ⚙️💡⚙️💡⚙️💡⚙️ —— Thanks for watching! -Felix
