Strauss-Tausig: You Only Live Once - piano transcription

Notes by pianist Charles Rosen: Liszt’s tradition [of waltz transcriptions] was carried on by his pupil Carl Tausig, who is said to have been an extraordinarily reserved and unmannered pianist with a spectacular technique. In comparison with the later Strauss transcriptions, “Man lebt nur einmal“ (“You Only Live Once“) is dry, but this quality is to be relished - it is witty and not at all sentimental.
