Bransby Williams - The Famous Character Actor (1932)

Bransby Williams - famous character actor does an impersonation of a character from a Dickens novel. Bransby is sitting in a drawing room setting reading “The Pickwick Papers“. He tells the audience that he will show them how Tony Weller the stagecoach driver in The Pickwick Papers would have looked and talked. Bransby disappears through the curtains at the back of the stage saying “just a moment.“ When he re-emerges he is dressed in Dickensian costume impersonating the stagecoach driver. He coughs and splutters as he impersonates the philosophical Tony giving some advice to his son Sam. He warns against marriage and advises “beware of widows“. He ends his impersonation by saying “Bye bye“ several times and ducking out of frame.
