Leicester Square stabbing: Man appears in court accused of attacking 11-year-old girl

A man allegedly stabbed an 11-year-old girl “eight times” after grabbing her in Leicester Square while she was with her mother, Westminster Magistrates’ Court heard. Ioan Pintaru is accused of knifing the 11-year-old tourist eight times in the stomach after putting her in a headlock when she was out with her mum. The 32-year-old man, who is a Romanian citizen of no fixed address, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court this morning. He was also charged with possession of a bladed article in a public place, which the court heard was a steak knife. Today he wore a grey prison-issue sweatshirt as the charges were read to him by him through an interpreter during the 10-minute hearing.
