- the pathetic (underfunded, late to start) Building Performance Study team at Hugo Neu. In the first 10 days after 9/11, 35,000 tons of steel beams/columns were moved to Fresh Kills Landfill. Thereafter, the steel went to scrapyards. Hugo Neu received their first load Sept. 24 and by Nov. 4 they had completed their first contract with the city/Port Authority to recycle 25,000 tons.
