We start at the Königsallee, the city’s most famous shopping street, and then make our way to the Altstadt, the city’s historic old town. We’ll also walk to the Rhine embankment promenade, the Schadowstraße shopping street, the Carlsplatz and the KÖ Bogen II, which is is a two-part structure that consists of two sloping green facades. The facades are made of hornbeam trees, which are native to Germany. The trees are planted in a zigzag pattern, which creates a wave-like effect. Düsseldorf is the capital of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is located on the Rhine River, about 20 kilometers north of Cologne. Düsseldorf is a major economic and financial center, and is home to the headquarters of many international companies. The city has a rich history, dating back to the 12th century. Düsseldorf was once a small fishing village, but it grew in importance as a trade center in the Middle Ages. The city was heavily damaged during World War II, but it was rebuilt after the war.
