The valley is best known for its ski jumps. Planica is also home to the largest airport in the world, which is traditionally the last in line every year. The first competitions in ski jumping or summers were held here already in the thirties of the last century. Many world records in the length of ski flights were set on Rožman’s (1934) and later Bloudek’s ski jump, among others, the mark of 100 meters was exceeded for the first time in 1936. In 1969, the construction of the Gorišek brothers airfield followed, on which, with gradual improvements, it was possible to reach new and new record distances. In 1994, another magical limit - 200 meters - was crossed for the first time.
