鏈縁蛇叢釼 〜 Earthen Miraculous Sword - Unreal Mode TLB 1cc (Kuroji)

From the same guy again that makes those April Fools PC-98 Touhou remake videos. Earthen Miraculous Sword is the second game in JynX’s Len’en Series, with two games free to download and the third being released this Comiket. Unreal is the highest difficulty in the game and it’s quite a thing. The second game added a few new elements to the original game, namely a new survival mechanic and a new scoring mechanic. The survival mechanic is the new “flash bomb“ that you can charge by grazing bullets and filling the meter on the left. It’s pretty much a 1 second mini-bomb or shield that does no damage and is pretty situational in it’s usefulness as it’s really short and only clears a few bullets. The flash bomb is also different for all characters. For Yabusame it’s a small circle around her that cancels bullets while for Tsubakura it’s a narrow plus sign across the screen that cancels bullets. The new scoring mechanic is the “flower gauge“ on the right side of the screen. It fills up when you kill enemies and capture spellcards and drains when you die and bomb. It does not drain if you use a flash bomb. Dying decreases the gauge by an entire petal which is huge. Bombs take off approximately the value it takes to capture a spellcard. The amount of petals act as a multiplier. Kuroji, the character I’m using, is a bit off a special, gimmicky character that seems to be mostly for experts. On max power she does the highest amount of damage in the game, however if you are 1 point below it you lose like 50% of your damage output. Her bomb is also weird in that it is pretty useless and can even be dangerous when used defensively as you can do no damage and enemies will just keep piling up. However if you place the bomb on top of a boss or enemy it will do an absurd amount of damage. Lastly her flash bomb is also weird in that it doesn’t actually cancel bullets but rather launch them up the screen. In order to effectively use her you have to really plan ahead and play well but once you do she’s probably the best character in the game. The key to scoring and survival in this game is clever usage of the flash bomb as it doesn’t penalize your score and you can keep reusing it to manipulate patterns and get past them. There actually is a TLB in this game. However in it’s current state the game will crash if you trigger it. Big thanks to Necrotek for informing me that running the game through Ollydbg will fix the issue for some bizarre reason. As far as I know to trigger the TLB you are SUPPOSED to have a full flower gauge at the end of the game. I have no idea what happened in this run for me to trigger it, it should not have appeared when it did. Running the game through Ollydbg should not have anything to do with it as I didn’t modify or edit the game files in any way. The death at the start of stage 5 was an intentional suicide. Duo to the nature of the flower gauge it’s pretty much impossible to recover from a death in stage 6 if you want a full flower gauge by the end of the game. By dying at the start of stage 5 I’ll have five bombs at the end of the stage and I can use these to finish the rest of the game while having enough time to get the flower gauge up again, which I’m pretty consistent at. It’s just too bad the final boss’s second nonspell completely tripped me up and made me lose a bomb I needed.
