China’s Game-Changing Radar That Tracks Hypersonic Missiles
Hypersonic missiles can travel at speeds of up to Mach 20 (12,000 mph or 19,312 km/h), allowing them to strike their targets in a matter of minutes, with the potential to inflict unprecedented destruction on the battlefield, including the ability to:
a. Destroy entire cities with a single strike, as a hypersonic missile can release an enormous amount of kinetic energy, equivalent to a small nuclear warhead, upon impact.
b. Evade even the most advanced missile defense systems, as their extreme speed and maneuverability make them nearly impossible to intercept.
c. Travel over 1,000 miles (1,609 km) in just 10 minutes, giving military commanders less than 10 minutes to respond to an incoming attack, making it extremely challenging to defend against.
d. Penetrate even the most hardened bunkers and fortifications, due to their ability to generate massive shockwaves and heat upon impact.
To put this in perspective, a hypersonic missile launched from Russia could reach the East Coast of the United States in just 30 minutes, or from China to the West Coast in just 20 minutes. This has significant implications for global security and the future of warfare.
