Re-usable foldable filament Spool print on prusa

STL- People criticize 3D printing for not being environmentally friendly. And they particularly criticize the spool(an item that helps supply the filament into the 3D printer) for not being recyclable which results in producing plastic waste. Perhaps because of such criticism, there is a current trend among shops where they sell the filament without the spool. Since the spool is not given, you would have to print your own spool to use these filaments. However, the spool designs that are currently available are heavier than conventional spools and are very difficult to print on a small 3D printer. Therefore, I have designed a spool that is easier to print and eco-friendly. The following are the feature of this design: 1. The spool I have designed is very light, so it consumes less filament to print. Most mold production spools weigh more than 200g and current 3D printable spools weigh more than 230g. 2. This spool can be printed on very small 3D printers. I have designed the structure of this spool to be foldable, by applying my folding technology. The spool is designed to be printed on a 3D printer with a build size of 150mm in width and 150mm in depth. When the spool is assembled after the print, the size will be the same as a normal spool and you would be able to fill in enough filaments. 3. Of course, the spool is sturdy enough. Existing folding structures were designed so that when it first starts printing, at an unfolded state, the size of the print is large. But once you start folding to complete the print, it becomes smaller and more sturdy. On the contrary, the folding spool is designed so that when it is first printed, the size of the print is small. However, once you start folding the print, it becomes larger and less sturdy. To tackle this problem, I have utilized the existing folding technology and the honeycomb structure, which is the strongest structure on the planet, to design a spool that is light and extremely sturdy. Filament sold without spool can be purchased from the link below. Fab 365 will continue to strive to reduce the view that 3D printing is harming the earth’s environment by applying various environmental friendly perspectives to its design. Largest part in printing, size = X 150mm, Y 150mm, Z 63mm, After full assembly size= X 200mm, Y 200mm, Z 79mm Total Build time : 21h 20m / Plastic weight :
