Ynkleudherhenavogyon (UK) - Honan Bleydh II (Album 2023)

The second full-length record from one of Nostalggia’s main vessels of creativity. Ever marching towards Ragnarok, and an omen for the end times the lurker of the underworld (Ynkleudherhenavogyon meaning roughly elder undertaker), returns from its short slumber to again call forth the ancients for cleansing and atonement. Deeply inspired by Cornish heritage and Celtic mysticism, Ynkleudherhenavogyon continues its path, from the wooden depths of mystery and recluse, to cosmic heights and unkown, to the darkened depths of the Cornish mines, as the two Algiz represented in the cover, the tyrant calls for enlightenment from both the depths and the above beyond. An album that clocks in at close to 50 minutes, this is undoubtedly Ynkleudherhenavogyon’s most triumphant output to date. I have praised this act countless times, and it only seems to get better, but truly, this record synthesizes all the great aspects of its journey, while being a step further in craftsmanship, with tracks like “Henji Troha Kel Kober Bal“ and “Henavogesow Kugol an Managh“ being surely among the act’s best, traversing through many intricate caves of the dark arts, and delivering an absolutely unique riffing style and language, from an artist whose guitar style was already unique and pretty much impossible to compare to. Beyond the serpentine intricacies, transcending dissonance and serpentine melodicism that we gather from the guitars, this album seems to have special focus on the bass as well, here much more present, and often in the frontline, while gracins as well with excellent crytalline synthesizers, which were alread a pinpoint on the “Der An Yett“ demo, earlier this year.
