[鏡音リン] 嫌なヲツカイ (The Disgusting Wotsukai) English Sub

Another Rin song! Thank you so much to DelilahtheSpider for suggesting it because otherwise there’s no way I would even have known about this producer. I didn’t translate “Wotsukai“ because it just doesn’t flow well, so if you’re curious please see the translation notes below! Anyway I really love this song’s chaotic and creepy style, and I hope you do too. Thanks for watching! music, lyrics, and arrangement: Roreru vocaloid: Kagamine Rin (no video credit was given in the original so I’m assuming it’s also credited to Rorero. In any case it is not mine) translation: yours truly nico original: As always, I own nothing except my translation. Feel free to use this translation with credit. Translation notes: “Wotsukai“ doesn’t translate as a single word because it begins with a particle, not a regular letter. In other words, Japanese words are never written with this “wo“ in the beginning, or usually in the word at all. Basically “wo“ is the particle you see between an action and a direct object that indicates that the action is being performed on that object (for example, “house wo refurnish“). In this case, “wo tsukai“ would usually mean “Use the (something)“. But since the only thing before “wo“ is not a noun but an adjective, it doesn’t make sense. Even so, I think it could reasonably be translated as “Use the disgusting“ if you ignore the fact that there’s no noun there. Since it’s a character’s name, though, I decided not to translate it this way and just to leave this note in the description. The word “iya,“ which I translated as disgusting, was also really hard to translate. In Japanese it has a variety of meanings, including “disagreeable,“ “hated,“ “unpleasant,“ or even “reluctant“ and “no.“ Probably the most accurate translation is DO NOT WANT, but of course that doesn’t flow any better. Haha. Sorry if the subs are hard to read in places. Please message me if you have suggestions about my translation! :)
