Lasso Select Mode: A Hidden Inkscape Feature

You can select multiple objects in Inkscape by shift-clicking them or by clicking and dragging to create a rectangular bounding box around them. Another method though would be to use Lasso Select mode, which allows you to select multiple objects by clicking and dragging while holding the Alt key to draw a line through them.
